A B O U T
Mokkō is an Amsterdam based design studio for interiors, furniture and acoustic panels, founded by autodidact designer Aad Bos. Our work is inspired by Japanese aesthetics and woodcraft. Hence the name Mokkō, which means woodworking in Japanese.
Our design represents a modern interpretation of traditional Japanese design and is characterized by a clean and modest appearance with a strong character and presence.
We create custom Japanese inspired interiors, furniture and acoustic panels, striving to create pleasing and inspiring- rather than impressing interiors and products. For our interior projects we work with some of the best Japanese brands and suppliers. For our furniture and sound absorbing panels we source natural, sustainable materials and work together with local craftsmen.

While traveling through Japan, founder Aad Bos got fascinated by the Japanese dedication to perfection and sense of aesthetics affecting every aspect of life in Japan. Not long thereafter Aad decided to leave the corporate business environment and start a design studio of his own.
Aad followed courses in art, design and craft at the Edinburgh College of Art, Morley College London and the Delft University of Technology. Before founding Mokkō, Aad worked as a corporate lawyer for 5 years in Istanbul, London and Amsterdam, while spending his spare time on art, craft and design.
